Mumbai: Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited (SCIL) has marked World Nature Conservation Day by unveiling the transformative results of its integrated environmental projects that span 1,847.25 hectares and directly uplift over 350 rural families across India.
From water conservation to organic farming, SCIL’s environmental initiatives are designed not only to rehabilitate ecosystems but also to drive long-term socio-economic upliftment.

These projects have been rolled out across regions including Roha, Mahad, and Sutarwadi.
World Nature Conservation Day: Key Highlights of Sudarshan’s Environmental Interventions
Water Security & Resource Development:
- Constructed 4 check dams, 8 gabion structures, and nala deepening totaling 2,915 cubic meters, benefiting 100+ hectares of farmland.
- Revived springs in Sukhadare Kond and Boudh Wadi, providing 250 residents with 24×7 access to potable water.
- Installed 800 meters of drinking water pipelines and water filters for over 100 households.
- Developed 1,400 cubic meters of Continuous Contour Trenches (CCTs) to aid soil and water conservation.
Greening and Agroforestry:
- Planted 5,000+ trees, including 1,200 fruit-bearing varieties like mango, jackfruit, and chikku suited to local agro-climatic conditions.
- Converted 150 acres to organic farming, and set up 120+ kitchen gardens, helping farmers improve income and soil health.
Decentralized Waste Management & Awareness:
- Distributed 2,500+ home composting planters, each capable of processing 1 kg of kitchen waste per day, promoting household-level circular economy practices.
- Launched nature clubs and eco-education workshops in schools and colleges.
- Conducted public drives on biodiversity, Nirmalya collection, and waste & water conservation, fostering behavioral change across communities.
Corporate Volunteerism:
- Over 75 SCIL employees joined afforestation activities, reinforcing the company’s internal culture of sustainability.
