Patna: The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), has inaugurated a state-of-the-art incubation facility in Patna (STPI Patna) and launched a new STPI Centre in Darbhanga to bolster the IT/ITES ecosystem and nurture tech startups in Bihar.
The launch was officiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the central government’s commitment to inclusive digital growth.

STPI Patna: A High-Impact Technology Incubator
Located in the Patliputra Industrial Area, the newly developed STPI Patna spans 1,00,000 sq. ft. and was constructed at a cost of ₹53.10 crore.
The facility includes:
- 103 plug-and-play seats
- 37,000 sq. ft. raw incubation space
- A Network Operation Centre (NOC)
- A Co-location/Data Centre
This next-generation infrastructure aims to support startups, generate employment, and drive software exports. Currently, over 450 youth are employed by startups operating from this facility.
STPI Darbhanga: Empowering Mithilanchal’s Digital Aspirations
The newly inaugurated STPI Centre in Darbhanga, built with an investment of ₹10 crore, offers:
- 76 plug-and-play incubation seats
- Meeting rooms and cafeteria
- NOC and collaborative infrastructure across 16,000 sq. ft.

Strategically located at ITI Laheriasarai, the Darbhanga centre is designed to cater to the growing demand for innovation infrastructure in north Bihar.

Fueling the Startup Ecosystem through NGIS
Under the Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS), STPI has extended mentorship, seed funding, and capacity building to 29 startups from Bihar. This initiative is a key driver of Bihar’s emerging startup ecosystem, enabling local entrepreneurs to innovate and scale without relocating to larger metro cities.
