Toyota Kirloskar and Ohmium Sign MoU for PEM Hydrogen Technology Collaboration

New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) and Ohmium International, a global leader in Proton Exchange Membrane – PEM hydrogen technology, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborative opportunities for developing green hydrogen-based solutions.

Announced during a high-profile event in New Delhi, the strategic collaboration will integrate Toyota’s cutting-edge PEM fuel cell systems with Ohmium’s hyper-modular PEM electrolyzer technology to develop efficient, scalable, and cost-effective green hydrogen solutions for industrial and mobility applications in India.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by prominent government leaders including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, and Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, underscoring the national commitment to fostering sustainable technologies.

Senior executives from Toyota Kirloskar Motor, including Manasi Tata Kirloskar and Swapnesh R Maru, expressed strong support for the initiative.

PEM Hydrogen Technology: A Strategic Collaboration to Power Hydrogen Mobility

Under this collaboration, both companies will align their technological strengths – Toyota’s deep expertise in hydrogen fuel cells and Ohmium’s advanced PEM hydrogen electrolyzer platforms – to create integrated systems tailored to India’s energy and mobility needs.

Ohmium’s factory-assembled modules offer rapid, low-cost deployment and are supported by sophisticated power electronics and closed-loop cooling, making them ideal for large-scale hydrogen production.

“By combining Toyota’s expertise in fuel cell systems with Ohmium’s advanced PEM hydrogen technology, we aim to accelerate the development of clean, efficient, and scalable hydrogen energy systems in India,” said Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and SVP, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

“This collaboration supports India’s energy security, sustainability targets, and carbon neutrality mission.”

Ohmium CEO Arne Ballantine added, “Toyota is globally recognized for its innovation in fuel cell technology. We are excited to partner with them to drive near-term, practical adoption of green hydrogen-powered systems in India and beyond.”
