Mumbai: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has achieved a major milestone in its rooftop solar business, crossing 1.5 lakh installations and 3 GW cumulative capacity across 700+ cities in FY25.
Maintaining its leadership position in the segment, the company now commands a 13.1% market share in the rooftop solar EPC space.
The rooftop solar division posted a robust profit after tax (PAT) of ₹209 crore in FY25, including ₹100 crore in Q4 alone, reflecting widespread adoption and operational strength. Out of Tata Power’s total 2.5 GW of renewable capacity executed during the fiscal, 600 MW was delivered through rooftop solar projects.
“Our rooftop solar business continues to play a crucial role in building India’s clean energy future,” said a Tata Power spokesperson. “We are committed to scaling access, affordability, and quality as we aim to serve 30 lakh homes over the next three years.”
Rooftop Solar Business: Driving India’s Rooftop Revolution with PM Surya Ghar Yojana
Tata Power is actively supporting the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a government initiative targeting 1 crore solar-powered households.
In partnership with state-level renewable energy agencies such as OREDA, UPNEDA, APDCL, JVVNL, AVVNL, and JDVVNL, the company is enabling large-scale residential adoption of rooftop solar systems.
Its nationwide awareness campaign ‘Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang’ is currently active in cities like Jodhpur, Varanasi, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Raipur, supported by 600+ channel partners across 400+ districts and 225+ authorized service partners.
To enhance affordability, Tata Power has partnered with over 20 financial institutions, facilitating rooftop solar financing worth ₹5,680 crore, helping more Indians transition to clean energy.

To ensure supply chain reliability and quality assurance, Tata Power sources solar modules from its TP Solar manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
This fully integrated plant produced 3,291 MW of solar modules and 846 MW of solar cells in FY25, leveraging technologies like TOPCon, Mono PERC, and bifacial modules for high efficiency and DCR compliance.
Operating at over 90% utilization, this facility underscores Tata Power’s commitment to Make in India and to delivering high-performance solar solutions.
Looking Ahead: 30 Lakh Installations in Three Years
With growing institutional support, customer trust, and manufacturing scale, Tata Power is targeting 30 lakh rooftop solar installations by 2028. Its rooftop solar business remains a cornerstone of India’s green energy transition, helping democratize energy access while supporting national climate goals.
