New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a ₹661.50 crore contract with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) for the procurement of the BrahMos Fire Control System and Launchers for Indian Navy ships.

The contract was signed under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category on October 6, 2026, in New Delhi.

The contract was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The procurement of the BrahMos Fire Control System and launchers is aimed at supporting the Indian Navy’s maritime strike capabilities.

The project has a minimum indigenous content of 68%, encouraging the active participation of various Indian industries, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The BrahMos Fire Control System procurement is also expected to generate employment over a period of three years.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the project will further bolster India’s maritime security architecture and defence capabilities.

The procurement of the BrahMos Fire Control System and launchers also marks a critical milestone in the ongoing efforts to indigenise advanced military technology.

The BrahMos system fitted onboard various frontline warships serves as the Indian Navy’s primary Surface to Surface Missile (SSM) system for maritime strike operations.

The BrahMos Fire Control System forms part of the broader BrahMos weapon system deployed on Indian Navy warships.

The system is capable of targeting both land and sea targets from extended ranges with pinpoint accuracy at supersonic speed.

The ₹661.50 crore BrahMos Fire Control System and launcher contract was signed with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, with the procurement carrying a minimum indigenous content of 68%.

The project involving the BrahMos Fire Control System is expected to strengthen India’s maritime security architecture while increasing the participation of Indian industries, including MSMEs, in advanced defence technology.

The Ministry of Defence said the project will generate employment over a period of three years and contribute to ongoing efforts towards greater indigenisation of advanced military technology.
