Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has launched the Keralam GCC Boilerplate, a government-enabled framework designed to make the process of setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) easier and more seamless for global investors.
Seeram Sambasiva Rao, IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Keralam, launched the Keralam GCC Boilerplate at the second edition of Economic Times GCC World SURGE summit, held at Kovalam. P K Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries, IT & AI, Government of Keralam, attended the event online.
Sandip Kumar, IAS, CEO, Technopark, and Susanth Kurunthil, CEO, Infoparks Kerala, were also present at the event.
The Keralam GCC Boilerplate is a government-enabled Soft Landing Framework that supports multinational corporations from the stage of deciding to invest in the state through to making their GCC operational.
The framework brings together three integrated components — physical infrastructure, the Keralam GCC Partner Network and a dedicated GCC Facilitation team.
These components will function as a single coordinated mechanism to support global firms in launching their GCCs in Kerala.
Keralam GCC Boilerplate to offer hassle-free setup for investors
P K Kunhalikutty said the Keralam GCC Boilerplate will provide investors with a hassle-free experience by enabling them to start operations from the first day with the support of a single coordinated mechanism established in government IT Parks.
He said Kerala is currently home to more than 50 GCCs and has two lakh technology professionals. The state also exports software worth more than Rs 30,000 crore annually.
“The government has set a target of setting up 150 GCCs in Kerala by 2031. In this direction, the government has unveiled a dedicated GCC Policy and set up a GCC Consortium that brings existing GCCs into the policymaking conversation, GCC consultants and enablers, sustained outreach to GCC leadership both globally and within India,” Kunhalikutty noted.
The Keralam GCC Boilerplate provides firms with ready-to-move-in office space, dedicated handholding from the first day and six months of rent-free operations in government IT Parks.
Dedicated plug-and-play infrastructure for GCCs
Under the Keralam GCC Boilerplate, a 20,000 sq.ft. dedicated world-class plug-and-play infrastructure facility will be created in every Keralam IT Park.
The framework will also provide investors with access to a curated bench of empanelled service providers to support them through the establishment and subsequent growth of their GCCs.
In addition, every Keralam IT Park will establish a dedicated GCC Facilitation team to assist GCC investors throughout the initial phase of setting up their Global Capability Centres.
The Keralam GCC Boilerplate is intended to bring the physical infrastructure, partner network and facilitation support required by global firms under a single coordinated mechanism, simplifying the initial process of establishing GCC operations in the state.
