Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala-based deep-tech robotics company Genrobotics will invest ₹150 crore over five years in Tamil Nadu to establish a high-end robotics manufacturing and export facility in the state.
Genrobotics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu in Chennai in the presence of Chief Minister Shri C Joseph Vijay and Minister for Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu, Smt S Keerthana.
Genrobotics Chief Operating Officer Nikhil N.P and Director Rashid K signed the MoU and exchanged it with CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu Deepak Jacob IAS. Chief Secretary of Government of Tamil Nadu, Dr M Sai Kumar IAS, and Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Dr S Vijayakumar IAS, were also present on the occasion.
The project is part of Genrobotics’ plans to scale up its manufacturing and operational footprint across the country.
The Tamil Nadu investment represents one of the company’s largest single commitments to date and supports its expansion into international markets across sanitation, industrial, medical and defense robotics.
Genrobotics to Establish Advanced Robotics Manufacturing Base
Under the MoU, Genrobotics will establish a manufacturing base in Tamil Nadu for advanced robotics solutions, with production earmarked for export to Singapore, Malaysia, and the Middle East and MENA region.
With the launch of the project, Tamil Nadu will become the manufacturing and export hub for Genrobotics’ latest Bandicoot series, water and sanitation inspection robots, Wilboar and other flagship platforms.
The initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader push to attract high-value, export-oriented manufacturing investment.
The facility will focus on producing high-end robotics systems designed for international deployment. It will support Genrobotics’ ongoing expansion into healthcare, defense, industrial and aerospace applications across new geographies.
International Robotics Markets
Noting that Tamil Nadu offers the scale to meet growing international demand, Nikhil said the investment reflects the firm’s confidence in the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and its ambition to build a scalable export base to serve fast-growing robotics demand across the Middle East and MENA region and Southeast Asia.
“This investment adds to the manufacturing strength we’ve built in Kerala, and together they position us to serve the global markets we’re actively expanding into, while staying rooted in the innovation ecosystem that shaped Genrobotics from the start,” he added.

Expanding Manufacturing Footprint in Kerala
Genrobotics is also gearing up for its expansion in Kerala. The company currently operates facilities at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Kanjikode in Palakkad and AMTZ, with further expansion underway in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad.
Together, the Tamil Nadu and Kerala expansions represent a significant scale-up of Genrobotics’ manufacturing and operational capacity as the company accelerates its domestic and international growth plans.
Founded by Vimal Govind M.K, Arun George, Nikhil N.P and Rashid K, Genrobotics has grown from its origins in sanitation robotics into a diversified deep-tech company with operations spanning medical, industrial, defense and aerospace robotics.
Bandicoot Robot
Genrobotics is best known for developing the Bandicoot robot, which eliminates the need for manual sewer entry.
The company scripted history by developing the world’s first robotic scavenger Bandicoot, which has been integrated into urban sanitation systems across several states in India.
The company has since expanded beyond sanitation robotics into medical, industrial, defense and aerospace robotics, with a growing footprint across international markets.
