Chennai: Danfoss India partnered with IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur and the Immersive Technology and Entrepreneurship Labs (ITEL) Foundation to support Power Electronics Finishing School, a six-month residential programme aimed at developing industry-ready engineers in power electronics design and development.
The Power Electronics Finishing School is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements while strengthening India’s clean energy and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
The programme, coordinated by the ITEL Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will train 30 fresh engineering graduates annually across IIT Madras, IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur.
The six-month residential Power Electronics Finishing School combines classroom instruction delivered by IIT faculty with intensive laboratory sessions, industry projects and placement support.
The curriculum focuses on emerging technologies, including wide bandgap semiconductors (SiC and GaN), power converter design, embedded controls, digital power, renewable energy systems and electric mobility applications.
The initiative aims to create deployment-ready engineers capable of supporting India’s growing renewable energy, electric mobility and industrial sectors.

The Power Electronics Finishing School has been designed to address the increasing demand for specialised talent in power electronics while supporting India’s clean energy transition and manufacturing ambitions.

The Power Electronics Finishing School seeks to bridge the gap between academic education and industry expectations by providing engineering graduates with industry-relevant technical expertise and practical exposure.
Through structured training and hands-on learning, the programme is expected to enhance graduate employability while contributing to India’s indigenous research and development capabilities.
Power electronics is a critical technology area supporting renewable energy integration, industrial automation, electric vehicles and energy-efficient infrastructure.
By focusing on these domains, the Power Electronics Finishing School aims to prepare engineers for emerging opportunities in clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
As part of its role as a founding industry partner, Danfoss India will support the programme through technical knowledge sharing, guest lectures by industry experts and collaboration between academia and industry.
