Thiruvananthapuram: Palakkad Math Circle applications have opened as IIT Palakkad invited students from Classes 8 and 9 studying in schools under the Palakkad, Chittur, and Kuzhalmannam educational subdistricts to participate in the Palakkad Math Circle Selection Workshop, which will be held on 28 June 2026 at the IIT Palakkad campus.
The Palakkad Math Circle Selection Workshop will be conducted in two sessions. The morning session, scheduled from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, will include engaging mathematical activities and discussions led by faculty members and mentors.
This will be followed by a Selection Test from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, based on which participants will be chosen for the Palakkad Math Circle programme.
A total of 50 students will be selected through the workshop to join the three-year Palakkad Math Circle programme. Those selected will attend half-day sessions twice every month, on the second Saturday and the fourth Sunday.
Each session of the Palakkad Math Circle will focus on a specific area of mathematics and provide students with opportunities to interact with mentors who are passionate about the subject.

The programme is designed to nurture mathematical curiosity, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and develop a deeper appreciation of mathematics through discussions and exploratory learning.
Participation in the Math Circle programme is completely free of cost. The initiative does not have compulsory attendance requirements or examinations, allowing students to engage with mathematics in a flexible and enriching environment.
All sessions will be conducted at the IIT Palakkad campus. To facilitate participation, transportation between Palakkad town and the campus will be arranged for selected students.
Registration for the Palakkad Math Circle Selection Workshop opens on 10 June 2026 and will remain open until 24 June 2026.
