New Delhi: The Malabar Charitable Trust took centre stage as Union Minister Piyush Goyal unveiled a ₹200 crore CSR initiative for FY 2026–27 by Malabar Gold & Diamonds at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre.
The announcement reinforces the Malabar Charitable Trust’s expanding role in driving large-scale social impact across India.
The Malabar Charitable Trust initiative includes a wide spectrum of programmes, with a strong focus on education, healthcare, hunger alleviation, housing, and environmental protection.
The Union Minister also inaugurated the distribution of educational scholarships to 33,000 girl students across India, marking a significant milestone under the Malabar Charitable Trust’s ongoing education initiatives.
The event was attended by key stakeholders including M. P. Ahammad, O. Asher, Nishad A K, Abdulla Ibrahim, Puneet Kumar, Rukmini Banerji, and Dr. Idris, among others.

Malabar Charitable Trust Initiatives: A Key Driver of Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Speaking at the event, Piyush Goyal noted that the initiatives of the Malabar Charitable Trust are aligned with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, a flagship programme of Narendra Modi aimed at empowering girls through education and welfare schemes.
He stated that “Malabar Gold & Diamonds’ decision to allocate INR 200 crore towards CSR will further strengthen the nation’s progress,” emphasizing that India’s growth is rooted in empowering its people, especially women and girls.
He appreciated the company’s continued efforts in driving meaningful change through education.
“He also encouraged students and young citizens to dream big, aspire beyond limitations, and seize the vast opportunities India offers, urging them to contribute actively to the nation’s growth story”.
Highlighting the importance of human capital, M.P. Ahammad said, “Human resource development is the backbone of national growth. Nurturing talent through quality education is essential, and the scholarship programme enables students to achieve academic success and contribute to the country’s development.”
He added that the group remains committed to creating sustainable, long-term societal impact through the Malabar Charitable Trust.
Under the Malabar Charitable Trust’s CSR roadmap for FY 2026–27, projects worth ₹200 crore will be implemented across more than 3,000 locations in 19 states, covering 15 major initiatives and benefiting over 2 lakh people.
A major portion of the allocation—₹114 crore—will be directed towards education, including micro-learning centres for street children and national scholarship programmes for girls.
The Malabar Charitable Trust has also earmarked ₹30 crore for food distribution under the Hunger Free World project, ₹14.2 crore for healthcare initiatives, and ₹25 crore for housing projects such as the ‘Grandma Home’ initiative for destitute mothers. Additionally, ₹6.8 crore will support humanitarian activities, while ₹10 crore will be dedicated to environmental protection efforts.
As part of the Malabar Group’s 33rd anniversary celebrations, the Malabar Charitable Trust will award scholarships to 33,000 girl students across 284 districts in 18 states this year. Since inception, the programme has benefited over 1,15,000 girls, reinforcing the Trust’s commitment to education-led empowerment.
For the rehabilitation of street children, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has established 1,543 micro-learning centres across 17 states in partnership with Pratham Education Foundation.
These centres are set to expand to 2,500, with student enrolment expected to grow from over 64,000 to 1 lakh under the Malabar Charitable Trust’s initiatives.
The Hunger Free World project currently provides nutritious meals daily to 1,15,000 individuals across India, Zambia, and Ethiopia.
Other key initiatives under the Malabar Charitable Trust include the ‘Grandma Home’ project for destitute women and Malabar-Thanal pharmacies, which offer medicines at subsidized rates to underserved communities.
Guided by ESG principles, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has consistently allocated 5% of its net trading profit towards CSR activities, all implemented through the Malabar Charitable Trust.
These efforts span women empowerment, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability, in collaboration with organizations such as Pratham and Thanal.
