Mumbai to Host Global Esports Games World Finals with 70 Athletes from 23 Nations

Mumbai: India will host the Global Esports Games World Finals in Mumbai from March 19–22, 2026, placing the country’s rapidly growing gaming and esports ecosystem on a global stage.

Organized by Eflag Corp and the Global Esports Federation, with support from Maharashtra Tourism, the Global Esports Games World Finals in Mumbai will bring together more than 70 elite athletes representing 23 countries and territories.

The Global Esports Games World Finals will also feature a series of parallel events including GEFcon and GEFestival, expanding the event into a broader celebration of esports, gaming culture, and digital innovation.

After successful editions hosted in Singapore, Istanbul, and Riyadh, the Global Esports Games World Finals will make its South Asia debut with India hosting the championship event in Mumbai.

As the international national-team esports championship, the tournament will see leading esports nations compete in titles such as Dota 2 and Clash Royale.

Global Esports Games World Finals: Talent Development, Innovation, Global Competitiveness

The Global Esports Games World Finals will feature national teams from prominent esports nations including Argentina, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Türkiye.

These teams will compete alongside host nation India and representatives from 16 additional countries and territories.

The championship marks a major milestone for India as it hosts one of the world’s most prestigious international esports competitions. The Global Esports Games World Finals is expected to reach a global broadcast audience exceeding 40 million viewers.

The event programme for the Global Esports Games World Finals will include a Grand Opening Ceremony, GEFcon, GEFestival, fan experiences, meet-and-greets, playoff rounds, the grand finale, and medal and trophy presentations.

The tournament will conclude with a ceremonial handover to Los Angeles, which will host the Los Angeles 2026 Global Esports Games in December 2026.

Industry stakeholders believe the Global Esports Games World Finals could catalyse investments across broadcast production, tournament operations, digital content creation, and youth skill development, further strengthening India’s emergence as a global esports destination.

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, along with senior state ministers, will inaugurate the Global Esports Games World Finals in Mumbai.

According to the BITKRAFT-Redseer report, India’s esports market is projected to triple from $38 million in FY25 to $132 million by FY30, growing at a 26% CAGR.

The ecosystem currently includes 2.8 million competitive esports players, 40 professional teams, and nearly 20 major game titles, highlighting the scale of opportunity surrounding the Global Esports Games World Finals.

The competing national teams at the Global Esports Games World Finals in Mumbai include: South Africa, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Benin, Cuba, Ecuador, United States of America, Ghana, Great Britain, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Peru, Portugal, Senegal, Serbia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Belarus, and India as the host nation.
