TraceXero Technologies Teams Up with NCB for Carbon Capture Innovation in Cement Industry

TraceXero Technologies

New Delhi: TraceXero Technologies has entered into a strategic collaboration with the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB) to support the development and validation of advanced carbon capture technologies for the cement sector.

The partnership aims to accelerate research, technical validation, and potential commercialization of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) solutions that can help reduce emissions from one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries.

The collaboration between TraceXero Technologies and NCB marks an important step toward enabling innovative decarbonisation technologies in India’s cement and construction materials ecosystem.

NCB, an apex research and development organisation functioning under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has been actively supporting research and innovation in the sector.

Under the agreement, TraceXero Technologies Private Limited, an Indian technology startup focused on industrial decarbonisation and carbon capture solutions and incubated at NCB, will work closely with the research body to advance the development of Carbon Capture and Utilisation technologies specifically designed for the cement industry.

The partnership is expected to support the technical validation and scaling potential of solutions being developed by TraceXero Technologies, with the broader objective of enabling the cement and construction materials industry to move toward sustainable production pathways.

The cement industry is widely regarded as a cornerstone of infrastructure development and economic growth. However, it is also one of the largest industrial sources of carbon emissions globally.

The sector accounts for nearly 7 per cent of global carbon dioxide emissions, making it a critical focus area in the global push toward decarbonisation and climate action.

Because a significant portion of emissions from cement manufacturing arises from the chemical process involved in clinker production, the sector is often classified as a hard-to-abate industry.

As a result, Carbon Capture and Utilisation technologies are increasingly being explored as key solutions to support the sector’s transition toward Net Zero targets.

Within this context, TraceXero Technologies has been developing an innovative carbon capture solution that uses a proprietary solvent process to capture carbon dioxide emissions from industrial sources.

The technology then converts the captured CO₂ into graphitic carbon and eventually graphene, transforming what would otherwise be a waste emission into a potentially valuable material resource.

By converting emissions into high-value carbon materials, TraceXero Technologies aims to create a circular approach to industrial emissions management while simultaneously contributing to sustainability goals.

The National Council for Cement and Building Materials has long played a significant role in advancing research, technology development, and industrial services for India’s cement and construction materials sector.

Through its laboratories, pilot facilities, and specialized technical expertise, the organisation provides scientific and technological support to industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and emerging technology developers.

Through initiatives such as this collaboration with TraceXero Technologies, NCB continues to strengthen its engagement with technology innovators and startups that are working on next-generation solutions for sustainability challenges in the cement industry.

By supporting startups developing breakthrough decarbonisation technologies, the organisation aims to help the sector maintain productivity and competitiveness while addressing environmental sustainability requirements.

TraceXero Technologies: Development and Demonstration of Carbon Capture Solutions

The collaboration agreement between TraceXero Technologies and NCB was formally signed on 10 March 2026 at the NCB campus in Ballabgarh.

The agreement was signed by Dr S K Chaturvedi, Joint Director and Secretary, NCB, and Reetam Chaudhury, Co-founder of TraceXero Technologies Private Limited.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Dr L P Singh, Director General of NCB, along with the Heads of Centres and Service Groups of the organisation.

The partnership is expected to support the development and demonstration of carbon capture solutions that can help the cement sector move closer to its sustainability and decarbonisation goals, while enabling emerging technology innovators like TraceXero Technologies to advance their solutions toward industrial adoption.
