Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras

Chennai: Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras have been launched across nine states as part of a large-scale Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at strengthening access to structured, community-level primary healthcare.

Announced in Chennai on February 23, 2026, the initiative by Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited (NSE: STARHEALTH; BSE: 543412) will see the rollout of 32 clinics designed to deliver free consultations, diagnostics, medicines, and preventive healthcare services.

The first of the Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras was inaugurated in Egmore, Chennai, marking the beginning of Phase 1 implementation.

The broader Tamil Nadu rollout includes Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Tiruppur and Karur, alongside expansion into eight other states.

The Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras are being implemented in partnership with Piramal Swasthya, part of Piramal Foundation. These clinics will provide structured primary care services at zero cost to patients.

Services offered under the Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras include:

  • MBBS doctor consultations
  • Screening for hypertension, diabetes and oral health conditions
  • Laboratory diagnostics including Blood Sugar, Haemoglobin and RDT tests
  • Medicines for common ailments and chronic conditions
  • Health counselling and awareness sessions
  • Pneumococcal vaccination support for eligible beneficiaries

The initiative specifically addresses the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including anaemia, diabetes and hypertension.

In the participating districts across nine states, hypertension prevalence ranges between 20% and 40% among adults, while diabetes prevalence reaches nearly 29% in certain geographies.

By establishing Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras in identified high-burden districts, the company aims to improve early screening, continuous follow-up and preventive care at the community level.

Under Phase 1, Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras will be operational across 32 key cities:

  • Tamil Nadu: Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Tiruppur, Chennai, Karur

The Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras are expected to impact over a million lives by improving accessibility to preventive and primary healthcare services in regions with documented healthcare access gaps.

Anand Roy, MD & CEO, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited, said: “India’s healthcare conversation must begin within the community. We cannot hospitalise our way out of the non-communicable disease (NCD) crisis; and we believe primary care is where healthcare equity begins. When screening, medicines and follow-up are consistently accessible, complications are prevented before they become catastrophic.

Institutions across the healthcare ecosystem have a shared responsibility to strengthen this foundation. Through this CSR initiative, we are contributing to that collective effort, and ensuring primary healthcare reaches people early, reliably and close to where they live.”

The Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras will operate with dedicated medical teams and defined service protocols to ensure structured follow-up and continuity of care.

Under the CSR allocation, Star Health is funding both capital and operational expenditure, while Piramal Swasthya will oversee implementation, staffing and clinical governance of the Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras.

Ajay Piramal, Chairman, Piramal Group, said: “Over the past 17 years, Piramal Foundation has worked across India’s most challenging geographies, guided by deep community engagement and systems transformation.

This CSR partnership with Star Health Insurance builds on that legacy – bringing trusted, comprehensive primary care closer to communities, impacting over a million lives through accessible consultations, diagnostics, and free medicines.”

Vaccination Support Integrated into Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras

Pneumococcal infections remain a significant contributor to respiratory disease burden in India. Pfizer is enhancing the initiative with its knowledge and expertise in vaccination.

Saral Gupta, Director Market Access, Pfizer India, said: “Adult immunization remains an overlooked yet vital component of India’s preventive healthcare framework. Our country bears 23% of the global burden of community-acquired pneumonia and strengthening access to vaccination, especially for high risk adult groups, is critical to lowering the overall impact of such vaccine preventable diseases.

We congratulate Star Health on making adult vaccination an integral part of their Arogya Seva Kendra initiative, and are pleased to continue supporting it with our expertise.”

The integration of adult pneumococcal vaccination support within the Star Health Arogya Seva Kendras reinforces the initiative’s preventive healthcare approach.
