Thane: The Sustainability Summit 2026 was successfully hosted by Jupiter Hospital, Thane, in association with Health & Environment Leadership Platform (H.E.L.P.), at Hotel Fortune Park Lakecity, Thane, bringing together healthcare leaders, policymakers, environmental experts, and administrators to chart a clear and actionable roadmap for sustainable healthcare delivery.

The Sustainability Summit 2026 commenced with a welcome address by Dr Shilpa Tatake, CEO, Jupiter Hospital, who emphasized that sustainability must move beyond policy discussions and become an operational priority within hospitals.

She highlighted that responsible resource utilization, biomedical waste management, and energy efficiency are closely linked to patient safety and long-term institutional resilience.

Her remarks underscored the need for healthcare institutions to embed sustainability into everyday operations rather than treating it as a compliance requirement.

Delivering the keynote address at the Sustainability Summit 2026, Dr Shyam R. Asolekar, Managing Director of Preventive Environmental Management Techno-Legal Consultants, Mumbai, and Ex-Professor and Head of Department, IIT Bombay, addressed the environmental challenges confronting modern healthcare systems.

He underscored that environmental responsibility is not merely a regulatory obligation but is embedded within the constitutional framework of the country.

Stressing the urgency of integrating environmental considerations into healthcare infrastructure and operations, he called for systemic change in waste management, water conservation, and carbon footprint reduction.

In his inaugural address at the Sustainability Summit 2026, Dr Alexander Thomas, Chairperson, H.E.L.P., urged healthcare institutions to transition “from vision to action” by adopting measurable sustainability goals and structured implementation frameworks.

He emphasized that sustainable healthcare is central to governance, accreditation standards, and long-term future-readiness, reinforcing the need for leadership-driven transformation within institutions.
