ELGROW: Elmentoz Research Secures TDB Funding to Commercialise AMP-Enriched Smart Protein

Elmentoz Research

In a move to promote sustainable and antibiotic-free animal nutrition solutions in India, the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has signed an agreement with Elmentoz Research Private Limited to support the commercialisation of an Antimicrobial Peptide (AMP)-enriched smart protein solution for animal nutrition.

The financial assistance will support the project titled “Development and Commercialization of Antimicrobial Peptide (AMP)-Enriched, Sustainable Precision Smart Protein for Poultry, Aquaculture feed and Pet food.” The company is headquartered in Bhubaneswar and is promoted by Jayashankar Das.

Elmentoz Research Project to Scale Indigenous Smart Protein Production

The Elmentoz Research project aims to establish commercial-scale production of ELGROW Smart Protein, an AMP-enriched, precision-engineered functional protein developed using a proprietary insect biomanufacturing platform.

The company focuses on developing antibiotic-free, sustainable, and precision protein solutions for poultry, aquaculture, and pet food sectors.

Through its indigenous insect biomanufacturing platform, Elmentoz Research has developed ELGROW™ Smart Protein to replace antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs), improve feed conversion ratio (FCR), reduce disease incidence, and support circular waste valorisation.

The technology uses locally sourced agri-food and industrial waste streams as feedstock, strengthening domestic supply chains, reducing import dependence, and aligning with circular-economy principles.

In addition to ELGROW™ Protein Meal and AMP-enriched smart protein formulations, the company produces ELGROW™ Oil containing essential fatty acids, including linoleic acid (omega-6), beneficial for poultry and aquaculture growth and reproduction.

The supported project is expected to benefit both large poultry and aquaculture integrators and small- and medium-scale farmers by providing cost-effective and performance-enhancing feed alternatives suitable for Indian farming systems.

The initiative addresses challenges such as antimicrobial resistance (AMR), feed security, and rising input costs while contributing to environmental sustainability.

Speaking on the agreement signing, Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary, TDB, stated that the Board’s support to Elmentoz Research reflects its mandate to promote commercialisation of indigenous technologies emerging from in-house R&D.

He noted that antibiotic-free precision nutrition solutions are strategically important for food safety, export competitiveness, and the long-term sustainability of India’s livestock and aquaculture sectors.

Promoter of M/s Elmentoz Research Private Limited expressed gratitude to TDB for the support and stated that the assistance would enable scale-up of the company’s proprietary insect biomanufacturing platform.

He highlighted that the project is designed to deliver sustainable, cost-effective, and performance-driven protein solutions tailored to Indian conditions, thereby reducing reliance on imported feed additives and strengthening national feed security.
