NICMAR University Pune Launches Specialised Postgraduate Courses for Infrastructure Sector

NICMAR University Pune

Pune: As India accelerates investments in infrastructure and urban development, the demand for specialised professionals capable of managing execution quality, asset performance and operational efficiency is becoming increasingly critical across the construction, real estate and infrastructure (CRIP) sector.

Responding to this need, NICMAR University Pune postgraduate courses portfolio has expanded with the launch of two new one-year postgraduate diploma programmes at its Pune campus – Postgraduate Diploma in Asset and Facilities Management (PGD AFM) and Postgraduate Diploma in Ready-Mix Concrete Management (PGD RMCM) – from the upcoming academic year.

NICMAR University Pune postgraduate courses aligned with industry growth trends

Industry estimates indicate that the asset and facilities management segment is expected to witness a 15–20% rise in demand by 2030.

In parallel, India’s ready-mix concrete (RMC) market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 8% between 2023 and 2027, driven by increased government spending on infrastructure initiatives such as smart cities, highways, metro projects and affordable housing.

With continued expansion of large-scale physical infrastructure including airports, metro rail networks, commercial complexes and industrial parks, sector experts have highlighted a shortage of trained professionals equipped to manage the post-construction lifecycle of assets.

The PGD in Asset and Facilities Management under the NICMAR University Pune framework is designed to develop competencies in operations planning, maintenance systems, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency and user-centric facility performance.

NICMAR University Pune postgraduate courses strengthen construction quality expertise

Simultaneously, rapid infrastructure development has intensified the focus on construction quality and durability, especially in high-volume projects.

Industry assessments point to a growing need for specialised expertise in ready-mix concrete production, quality assurance and supply-chain coordination.

The PGD in Ready-Mix Concrete Management aims to address this requirement by building capabilities in concrete technology, plant operations, quality control processes and logistics management.

Commenting on the launch, Dr Tapash Kumar Ganguli, Director-General (Interim), NICMAR, stated that the new programmes have been developed in consultation with industry partners to align academic training with practical, on-ground requirements.

He noted that the curriculum emphasises applied learning, case-based instruction and real-world project exposure to meet the increasing demand for technically proficient managers.

Education and infrastructure observers note that as India’s infrastructure ambitions scale up, project success will increasingly depend on the availability of specialised managerial talent across the value chain.

Programmes focusing on asset management and ready-mix concrete management are expected to support improved execution outcomes, lifecycle efficiency and infrastructure resilience.

With the introduction of these specialised offerings, NICMAR University Pune continues to strengthen its focus on niche, industry-aligned education supporting India’s long-term infrastructure development goals.

Admissions are currently open, and candidates are encouraged to apply early to secure their preferred specialisation and complete the personal interview process. The application deadline is December 31, 2025.
