Visakhapatnam: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal engaged with global leaders on trade and investment during the 30th CII Partnership Summit held in Visakhapatnam on 14 November 2025.

The Minister outlined India’s approach to strengthening international cooperation and held extensive bilateral meetings with delegations from multiple regions, including Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

CII Partnership Summit: Three Pillars for Global Collaboration

During his address at the CII Partnership Summit, Goyal emphasised three key pillars to deepen global economic partnerships.

The first pillar focuses on enabling two-way investments by reducing trade barriers and easing the movement of goods, services and capital.

The second pillar highlights technology cooperation through co-development of frontier technologies and increased investment in impactful innovations.

The third pillar underscores trust-building through transparent governance and predictable policy frameworks that support long-term collaboration.

He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, affirming that the world is one family.

CII Partnership Summit: High-Level Bilateral Meetings with Global Delegations

On the sidelines of the CII Partnership Summit, Goyal engaged with delegations from international organisations and countries across continents.

He met the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, ministers from Armenia, Mauritius, Angola and Venezuela, and representatives from Saudi Arabia, Russia and Singapore.

In his meeting with the WTO Director-General, both sides reviewed the status of negotiations and reaffirmed the importance of strengthening confidence in the multilateral trading system. The Minister reiterated India’s position on Public Stock Holding, a dispute settlement mechanism and balanced agricultural reforms ahead of MC14.

CII Partnership Summit: Strengthening Ties with Armenia, Mauritius, Angola, Mozambique and Venezuela

  • Armenia: Discussions focused on Gems and Jewellery, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, direct connectivity and addressing Non-Tariff Barriers. A Joint Working Group may be formed in early 2026.
  • Mauritius: Talks centred on enhancing trade, G2G procurement mechanisms, technology cooperation and expanding services exports. The State Trading Corporation of Mauritius expressed interest in importing key commodities from India.
  • Angola: Collaboration was explored in agriculture, food processing, mechanisation, irrigation and the natural diamond industry.
  • Mozambique: Engagements included logistics development, resilient supply chains, agriculture, skill development, education and oil and gas. Both sides discussed a G2G model for agricultural exports.
  • Venezuela: Both sides agreed to diversify their trade beyond oil and gas, with cooperation in critical minerals and expanded pharmaceutical exports from India.

CII Partnership Summit Concludes with Focus on Global Trade and Investment

The two-day CII Partnership Summit, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, convened global policymakers, industry leaders and international partners to discuss the future trajectory of global trade and investment.
