Cantabile: A Decade of Nurturing Musical and Dramatic Talent

Founded in 2015 by Ferieda Havewala (née Postwalla), Cantabile has become one of Pune’s most respected institutions for Performing Arts. Havewala, who has over 35 years of experience in Speech, Drama, and Music, established the institute to nurture artistic talent across age groups.

The name Cantabile – derived from the Italian word meaning “in a singing style” – reflects the institute’s mission to inspire expressive performance and musicality. It offers piano training, speech and drama education, and communication skill enhancement for children and adults alike.

Bel Canto and Bel Cantilena: Voices United in Song

Cantabile proudly houses two choirs – Bel Canto, an adult ensemble, and Bel Cantilena, a children’s choir. Bel Canto features singers from diverse professional backgrounds across Pune, many of whom began their musical journeys at the institute.

The choir performs twice annually in Pune and has been a regular part of the Stop Gaps Christmas Programme at NCPA, Mumbai.

Bel Cantilena, composed of children aged 5 to 15, represents the next generation of musical talent. The young performers frequently share the stage with their senior counterparts, spreading the joy of music through community concerts.
