Ashvini Rare Earth Leads India’s First Nd-Pr Metal Manufacturing Breakthrough

Ashvini Rare Earth

Pune: In a groundbreaking development, Ashvini Rare Earth Pvt. Ltd., a Pune-based MSME, has successfully commissioned India’s first Nd-Pr (Neodymium-Praseodymium) metal manufacturing plant, marking a major milestone in the country’s journey toward technological and energy self-reliance.

The initiative was supported under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India’s PRISM Scheme, and facilitated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC).

Ashvini Rare Earth Drives India’s Rare Earth Revolution

The establishment of the plant stems from a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed between Ashvini Rare Earth Pvt. Ltd. (AREPL), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and IREL (India) Ltd., blending research, process expertise, and industrial execution. Nd-Pr metals are strategic materials critical for electric vehicle motors, wind turbines, electronics, and advanced defence systems.

The plant’s inauguration was led by Vikram Dhoot (Managing Director, Ashvini Rare Earth Pvt. Ltd.) and Dr Anupam Agnihotri (Director, JNARDDC & Chairman, TEC-PRISM), in the presence of representatives from BARC, IREL, JNARDDC, and Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA).

Transforming Research into Industrial Reality

This achievement highlights how JNARDDC’s leadership under the PRISM Scheme is bridging the gap between scientific innovation and industrial application.

The collaboration between BARC’s research capabilities, IREL’s metallurgical expertise, and Ashvini Rare Earth’s execution has successfully transformed years of laboratory innovation into a functional industrial-scale facility.

A Strategic Milestone for India’s Clean Energy Ecosystem

With this commissioning, India joins a select group of nations capable of producing Neodymium–Praseodymium metals – a domain historically dominated by China.

This breakthrough strengthens India’s position in the global rare earth supply chain and aligns with the government’s AtmaNirbhar Bharat vision of achieving self-sufficiency in critical materials for green and high-tech industries.

A Defining Step Toward AtmaNirbhar Bharat

The commissioning of the Nd-Pr metal plant by Ashvini Rare Earth marks a turning point in India’s rare earth journey – from research to production, from import dependence to indigenous innovation.

This milestone signifies India’s readiness to craft the magnets of the future, essential for sustainable and advanced energy technologies.
