Pune: The long-awaited Purandar Airport land acquisition process has picked up speed, with 951 farmers submitting consent letters approving the acquisition of 1,160 acres for the proposed international airport in Purandar.

The district administration has confirmed that compensation and rehabilitation benefits have been finalized for all farmers who provided consent for the Purandar Airport land acquisition.

Farmers’ Consent Accelerates Purandar Airport Land Acquisition

The district administration began accepting consent letters on August 25, giving farmers 21 days to respond. Farmers who submit their consent by September 18, 2025 will receive four times compensation along with developed plots under the state’s rehabilitation policy.

On the very first day, 760 landowners from seven villages submitted consent letters covering 1,070 acres. An additional 160 farmers followed the next day, contributing 191 acres, bringing the total approved land to 1,160 acres.

Purandar Airport Land Acquisition: Current Progress

Originally, 2,673 hectares across seven villages in Purandar taluka were earmarked for the international airport project. However, due to farmer opposition, the Maharashtra government revised the plan, reducing the acquisition area to 1,285 hectares.

So far, nearly 40% of the required land for the proposed Purandar Airport is already in possession of the district administration. Officials highlighted this as a significant step forward for the project’s progress.

District Administration Appeals to Landowners

The administration has appealed to landowners to submit their consent letters within the given timeline to secure compensation benefits.

Consent letters can be submitted at designated offices in Saswad and Pune, including the Sub-Divisional Officer’s Office (Saswad) and Pune District Collectorate offices, between 10 am and 5 pm.

Authorities confirmed that compensation will be processed as per the MIDC resettlement policy, with priority given on a first-come, first-served basis.
